My Bio

As a Realtor® and Brokerage Owner at Sellstate Heartland Realty in the Kansas City area, I feel I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise about buying and selling real estate in KC. BBQ is sort of like Real Estate, it isn't the same everywhere, so you need someone you can trust for up-to-date information - someone who knows the "sauce!"

My friends and clients call me the real estate problem “fixer” because I has the knack for getting the impossible done. I'd love to help you!

My philosophy is simple: clients come first. I pledge to be in constant communication with my clients, keeping them fully informed throughout the entire buying or selling process.

I believe that if you’re not left with an amazing experience, I haven’t done my job. I don’t measure success through achievements or awards, but through the satisfaction of my clients.

What did you do before becoming a real estate agent and how did you decide to get into the industry?

Before getting my license I was (and still am) a real estate investor. Primarily on the fix and flip side of the business. I acquired my license in order to complete or come full circle with my real estate career - to become a part of all facets of real estate.

Have you ever faced any challenges in your current business?

- Working with uneducated or inexperienced agents on the other side of the deal and its negative impact to the client can be a challenge. - I work with quite a few investors in the Kansas City area. It is tough for me to preview one of their completed projects knowing that they skimped on some of the finishes - knowing they would earn more in the end and sell quicker - I want to help every person I work with achieve the American Dream of home ownership. When I know someone can afford to own a home because they earn a good living, however, their credit score won’t allow them lending - this is heart wrenching. I will help them with a lender who will give them guidance and coaching to correct their credit issues.

How many brokerages have you worked with so far? What were the pros and cons of each brokerage you worked with?

I started my career with the largest brokerage in the world because I was referred to them by a few friends I knew in the industry. I learned fundamental skills from them and because of my prior investor experience I was able take off pretty quick. I quickly learned how it felt to be a small fish in a large sea, just how overwhelming and intimidating it was to find answers and immerse myself in a large organization. Education was available to me ( a lot of it and at a great cost), but I needed to know what I needed now and it became difficult to figure it all out. I needed one on one expertise, so I eventually joined a team at the brokerage. After a lot of over-promising and under-delivering on the team (as well as a huge commission split to the team leader) I went solo as an agent again and made a decision to open my own brokerage. Opening Sellstate Heartland Realty was the best decision I’ve ever made in my real estate career. With our agent pillars for success: High Commission, revenue sharing program, breakthrough technology commitment and with overwhelming educational and mentoring opportunities for agents - the success rates and stakes for agents are measurably different. You can tell I am a a raving fan for what we do here.

What are the awards, professional achievements, and accomplishments you have received?

PCS Military Relocation Expert. Realtor for residential and commercial sales in Kansas, Missouri and Colorado. Broker and brokerage owner.

What has the proudest moment of your career been so far?

Nothing can make me more proud than seeing the smile on a client’s face after the home closing process. Second best wound be opening my own real estate brokerage and being able to educate agents in a pragmatic, practical way that I feel also better prepared me as a Realtor

What technology do you use in your business process to improve your customers’ experience?

At Sellstate we are fully embed with the technology from kvCORE. This tech is world renowned and just helps button up the process from A-Z. It helps keep us organized where we don’t drop the ball with our communication and customer contact. It also serves a professional marketing tool for our agents and expands our consumer reach vastly into the community. If someone doesn’t see one of our yard signs throughout the Kansas City area they are sure to see and know about us online and on social media.

How does getting good online affect your business, and what effort do you put into receiving good reviews?

I think online reviews are important for consumer reach and knowledge of a business and how they’re doing . Each and everyone client we work with will get touch points from us via text and email and from their agent personally. Beyond an online review, nothing can replace the kind words and personal note our clients will often give us for doing a job well done.

What are the primary advantages your clients get when choosing you over your competitors?

My experience in real estate began long before I earned my real estate license and became a brokerage owner. I started my real estate career by joining Fortune Builders mastery program in investing. I began fixing and flipping houses in 2004. Through this experience I learned a lot about the value of real estate investing, home improvement, how to access home and property valuation and access equity. Many of my clients use me and my contacts as a resource for home improvements before the sales process to ready their home top dollar offers. I am utilized for the same reason when previewing homes with buyers. I can access repair needs quickly and give my clients a good account for what to expect before an inspection is even ordered. I also actively educate and mentor my agents in the brokerage with my resources and knowledge of real estate investing.
