My Bio

I am a fairly simple person, born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles. And while LA has great weather, beautiful people, and a lot to do, I always imagined myself living somewhere that valued a more wholesome way of life.

After obtaining a Bachelors degree from San Diego State University in Psychology (emphasis on Industrial and Organizational Psychology aka Business psychology), I worked in higher education, I helped start a new Transportation Logistics company, and even worked as a Fundraising Consultant/Campaign director for Catholic charities.

I loved my work experience but knew I wanted to learn more, see more! After we got married, my husband and I moved to Boston where I worked for a private Catholic college and attended night classes to finish my Master’s degree in Management.

Upon completion of my degree, I decided to pursue a career in Real Estate where I felt I could combine my education, my varied business experience, my desire to help others, and my “people-person” personality.

Interview with Danielle
What did you do before becoming a real estate agent?

Before getting into real estate, I worked in higher education, specifically college admissions. I worked for several different colleges and universities throughout the US. Just prior to obtaining my real estate license, I worked for a Catholic college just north of Boston called Merrimack College. I also worked in major gifts and fundraising as a Campaign Manager for a company that helped Catholic parishes, schools, and dioceses throughout the US-run their capital campaigns. In 2017, I completed my Masters of Science in Management from Merrimack College. My previous education and work history left me with the desire to work for myself. I loved the elements of my previous work experience that revolved around my interactions with new people and helping others but I did not like being bogged down by red tape and the bureaucracy of working for a large corporation.

How did you decide to get into the industry?

My own personal experience with many moves (my spouse works in federal law enforcement so we have relocated many times) and meeting real estate agents and realtors who made such a difference in my own home buying and selling process made me realize my skill set and personality would be a good fit for this same career path. I was right! I love working in real estate and can't imagine doing anything else anymore.

Have you ever faced any challenges in your current business?

Being a transplant in a new city, a new state, a new place where I did not know many people were certainly the biggest hurdle I faced. Much of real estate relies on having a large sphere of influence and knowing others. When facing such a big purchase or sale, many people like to work with someone they know...whether personally or through recommendations from friends and/or family. I did not have the luxury of having my name or reputation paved for me. I had to work hard to prove myself to my clients and my community and continue to do so every day. Also, making the transition from a 9-5 employee to a self-employed is always interesting. Learning how to balance family and work-life when I am essentially on the clock 24-7 has taken some time but every day I get better at it.

How many brokerages have you worked with so far?

I've been fortunate to have found a brokerage I loved right away. I've been with the same brokerage for my entire real estate career and will likely stay with them until we relocate next. My brokerage is a boutique brokerage, located just here in the Rio Grande Valley region. My broker was actually my agent when my husband and I moved to the area. There is a family feels to the brokerage and many of the agents have been with this same company over 20 years. There is a camaraderie and trust between all the agents that is hard to find in any company and worth any of the cons I may face (which have been almost non-existent).

What are the awards, professional achievements, and accomplishments you have received?

What has the proudest moment of your career been so far?

I would consider every closing my proudest moment. As an empath, I take this process very seriously for my clients. It brings me so much joy to help them fulfill their dreams of being a homeowner or of selling their home to move on to bigger and better things.

What technology do you use in your business process to improve your customers’ experience?

First, I'd like to mention that use of technology in any business is only beneficial if a) its being used and b) its being used properly. I ask every client at my first interaction with them about their comfort level with technology and try to tailor my and their use to their competency level. In my personal business, I use our MLS and client portals, Fiverr for graphic designers, a lead management system, Google Suite, ZipForms for digital signatures, email and text messaging for easy communication, apps such as Taxbot, mortgage/lender apps, title company apps, social media (Instagram, Facebook, etc) and much more. Depending on my client's needs, I will use other types of technology to improve their experiences and am also always open to suggestions as well. I attend as many classes as possible to stay up to date with the current trends and am humble enough to recognize that I do not know everything and that there is always room to learn and grow.

How important do you think getting good online reviews is?

I think it is essential in creating an atmosphere where strangers and potential clients can judge whether my services will be a good fit for their needs.

How does this factor affect your business, and what effort do you put into receiving good reviews?

I've been blessed with wonderful clients who show appreciation for my services through great reviews and it has brought me a new business that I may have otherwise missed out on. Whether a client has intentions of reviewing my services or not though does not impact my quality of customer service to my client. I treat all my clients the same. I will give them each my highest level of customer service, make myself available to them during the entirety of their home buying or selling process as well as after for as long as they need. My job doesn't end at closing and I often am helping clients months or a year after with tax questions, home warranty questions, or contractor recommendations. I work hard to be honest, straightforward and understanding with all my clients. Everyone has needs and its my job to be attentive to those differences.

What are the primary advantages your clients get when choosing you over your competitors?

Our reputation is a huge advantage to our customers; we have been a local name for over 25 years and it makes a difference when trying to buy or sell a home.
There is a lot of combined knowledge and experience between myself and my colleagues/brokers. When someone decides to work with me, they are getting a team of individuals behind me to help them as well.
We use the most up to date technology to market and sell properties quickly and for the best price possible in the market.
I am well versed in the market trends in our area and make sure to stay informed of important legal, ethical, market information that will impact buyers and sellers.
I use a team of professional photographers and graphic designers as well as help to stage homes prior to selling so that each listing has a competitive edge.
I genuinely care about my clients. This means that I am here to help with every step of the process and am easily accessible to clients day, night, weekends. My clients can expect full honesty and transparency every step of the way.
