I've always been passionate about Real Estate, from being an appraiser right out of college to working at one of Maui's top producing brokerages, I've always dreamed of transforming beaten homes back into their former glory and giving back to my community by helping people.
The biggest challenges in this industry are getting funding and finding deals that have enough margin and upside, but are still beneficial to the seller. There's no short answer to how I solved these; the best way I can sum it up is by saying that I just worked my fingers to the bone 80-100 hours a week for years.. My escrow officer, Gray Marino, and I raised 25k to buy a car for a grocery store security officer that rode his bike 4 miles at 10 pm to return a stranger's (Gray's wife) wallet after she forgot in her shopping cart.
There was a seller that we were able to save from foreclosure. She had plenty of equity, but even after listing the house for 9 months she never even got a showing. Then she had another investor attempting to take advantage of her. We were able to help her by educating her on all of her options and on the steps she needed to protect herself, and we even ended up buying the property and getting her over 200k in equity at closing. It was a win for everyone involved, and that seller still sends me texts thanking me now, 3 years later!

We could close within a day or two if we didn't have to wait for the title transfer. But in Hawaii, unless you are signing closing docs on Oahu, the escrow company typically needs about 10-14 days to draft the deed and record the transfer. So when needed, we can close as quickly as the title can be transferred.
