Father-in-law, Robert Daigle, and Son-in-law, Charlie Genin started The Gen Group Construction, L.L.C. after many real estate discussions over a few years, and the opportunities that existed in the market with a limited number of custom home builders in Lafayette LA, and surrounding areas. Robert as a former attorney turned real-estate developer, and Charlie with a background in business and master' Degree from U.L.L. would prove to be a strong team of experienced and work ethic.
The business originally started as a speculative home builder, but quickly expanded it's a portfolio to include custom homes and commercial projects with Charlie heading operations as the General Contractor. The brand continued to grow and expand with a reputation based on accuracy, quality, and integrity.

Overall the Company has been incredibly fortunate to have such growth and success over the last 7 years. The biggest struggle would have been the 2nd year in business. The market was strong in 2014 when the business was started, but as the first spec homes were completing construction in early 2015, the market took a downturn as we saw houses sitting or selling at discounts across the area. It was a tough blow to have inventory sit longer than expected and have to sell at a discount, but fortunately, the downturn was short-lived and we have seen growth year-over-year since then.

Although being featured on the magazine and selected as one of Acadiana's best has been incredibly rewarding, what makes us the proudest are the regular comments from individuals and clients complimenting our work or telling us how much they love their new home, or how what they thought the building process may be the stereotypical nightmare actually ended up being enjoyable.
