Law is, fortunately, one of the easier professions in which to go solo. It has always been on my radar, but a couple of years ago, the time was just right for a lot of reasons.... and then, COVID happened! As they say, man plans... god laughs.
It's tough to get clients. It's tough to wear all the hats. And then in addition to all of that, you have to actually do the work. It's tough to keep all of that organized. The actual process of getting a firm going is a little bit like assembling a tent in a windstorm.
But also, one of the things that I wasn't ready for was that there are people who don't want you to succeed and covertly (or overtly) root against you. I guess some people just don't have anything better to do?
