250+ Top Real Estate Agent Keywords for SEO (Complete List)

Share With Friends:

In this educational article, I’ll share with you a comprehensive list of the best SEO keywords for real estate agents that my team and I have identified by trial and error of building and ranking websites in search engines for thousands of high-intent keywords.

I’ll show you the keywords you should go after to attract:

  • Listing leads (residential and commercial)
  • Buyer leads (residential and commercial)
  • Rental leads (residential and commercial)

It’s imperative for you to rank for these keywords because they possess the highest commercial intent that directly translates into revenue!

While the keywords with high commercial intent are essential for every realtor, you should not overlook real estate keywords with lower commercial intent.

Even though such keywords will not automatically contribute to your bottom line, they are still very valuable.

They will allow you to position yourself as a local market expert by getting in front of your potential clients in the earlier stages of their real estate transaction cycle.

Yes, targeting these types of keywords is a long-term strategy, which will not result in immediate ROI. But it will help you build up a predictable pipeline of quality inbound leads that will keep coming on autopilot.

So, if establishing yourself as a local market expert is of interest to you, in this article you’ll also find a complete list of keywords that do just that!

Importance of Proper Keyword Targeting for Realtors

Keyword selection can either make or break your ROI generated by the search engine optimization marketing channel. It applies to any type of business, including real estate.

In fact, agents and brokers need to be extra cautious when picking keywords to optimize their website because the real estate industry is so broad.

There are literally tens of thousands of real estate-related keywords that have nothing to do with realtors. This is why it’s not enough to blindly target any real estate-related keyword.

If mistakenly picked and used to optimize your real estate agent website, you’re subject to wasting a lot of valuable resources in terms of time and money.

The trick is to be able to identify only those keywords that target specifically your type of ideal customer profile (ICP), which for every agent can be different.

Some agents will only be interested in targeting keywords for real estate listings. Others will want to only go after buyer-focused keywords. Others will want both.

Regardless of what clients you’re going after, you’ll have to understand very clearly which keywords you must target to attract those types of clients.

For your convenience, I separated all the keywords below by different categories so you could quickly identify which keywords you’d be interested in targeting and which not.

FYI, it took my team and I years to identify all these keywords and sort them by relevant groups. This list of top SEO keywords for real estate agents will save you hundreds of hours and painful trial and errors.

So, take advantage of it to level up your real estate business with intelligent keyword targeting.

#1 Seller Keywords for Real Estate Agents and Brokers

Seller keywords are basically keywords for real estate listings. They target residential or commercial property owners who are planning to sell their property.

There are many different types of seller keywords. Some indicate the readiness of a seller to get the property on the market, others indicate whether they want to list with a realtor, sell to an investor or handle everything by themselves (For Sale by Owner).

In other words, different keywords have different intent. So, in order to provide an appropriate solution for each situation, you must clearly understand the intent behind each.

After careful consideration of every keyword’s intent, you may realize that certain keywords, which seemed very lucrative at the first glance, are of no interest to you after all; hence saving yourself a lot of valuable resources.

To help you determine that, I broke down all the seller-focused keywords by a different category indicating each keyword group’s intent.

Agent-Focused Seller Keywords

Agent-focused seller keywords are real estate keywords used in search engines by residential and commercial property owners that have a preference to sell their property particularly with licensed agents.

In other words, the intent behind these keywords is to find a listing agent, which will directly translate into more listings. If you’re looking for more real estate seller leads, these keywords are for you.

Investor-Focused Seller Keywords

Investor-focused seller keywords are real estate keywords used in search engines by property owners that prefer selling house to investors.

In other words, the intent behind these keywords is often to sell a property fast and preferably sell for cash to an investor.

These sellers are typically not interested in paying realtor commissions nor they want to go through the traditional sale route.

So, unless you’re an investor-friendly real estate agent, these keywords will most likely not be for you.

  • sell my house fast
  • sell my house for cash
  • sell my home for cash
  • sell my house fast for cash
  • sell house for cash
  • sell your house for cash
  • need to sell my house fast
  • sell house as is
  • need to sell my house asap
  • i need to sell my house fast
  • i want to sell my house as is fast

Similarly to other keywords, there are many different types of investor-focused seller keywords that also vary by intent, location, property type, and other characteristics.

#2 Buyer Keywords for Real Estate Agents and Brokers

Buyer keywords are keywords that target residential or commercial property buyers.

There is an enormous amount of different types of buyer-related keywords. They vary by location, property type, property style, amenity, price, and many other characteristics.

Some of the keywords are more general (short tail) while others very specific (long tail).

While both short and long tail buyer-focused keywords have commercial intent, the long tail real estate keywords tend to have higher commercial intent due to its specificity.

For instance, a “homes for sale in Miami” is a typical short tail keyword with a decent commercial intent.

But consider the following long tail keyword — “three story contemporary townhome with pool in Miami under $800k”.

This keyword is extremely specific, making it of a higher commercial value because a person using it knows exactly what he/she wants in comparison to a person who uses a more general keyword.

Below I separated all the buyer-focused keywords in different groups for your convenience.
